Heritage Preservation and Adaptive Reuse: Strategies for Sustainable Urban Development

Heritage preservation and adaptive reuse are gaining momentum as key strategies in sustainable urban development. These approaches not only respect the historical and cultural significance of buildings but also contribute to reducing the environmental impact of construction. By repurposing existing structures, cities can minimize waste and energy consumption associated with demolition and new construction. Moreover, preserving heritage sites can enhance the urban fabric, providing unique character and a sense of continuity. DEHE Architecture has been actively involved in several projects that focus on these strategies, such as the adaptive reuse of an old industrial complex into a modern cultural center. This project, among others, demonstrates how innovative design can breathe new life into historic buildings while maintaining their original charm and contributing to the community’s cultural landscape.
